About Follow Our Lead

What they offer

Follow Our Lead publishes six training programs with prices. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy classes run as six 30-minute classes for $300 and are aimed at puppies aged 8 weeks to 5 months. Basic Obedience runs four weeks at $600 and is delivered as weekly private lessons with homework. Advanced Obedience runs four weeks at $400 and builds on the basic course, with a $900 price for the two combined. A two-week Board & Train is $2,800, with the dog living with a professional trainer. Intro to Odor Imprint 101 is four 30-minute classes at $200. Aggression & Anxiety Management classes are $950.

Puppy classes and AKC testing

The puppy course ends with "an AKC Instructor-administered test"; on passing, owners receive an application for the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program, which the site says "comes with a medal and certificate." Puppies must have age-appropriate vaccinations to join a class.

Behavior and scent work

The aggression and anxiety program is described as helping "dogs with aggression or severe anxiety re-enter the family environment safely", and names reactivity, fear-based aggression and separation anxiety. The scent program pairs a dog's natural scenting abilities with a specific target odor and is pitched at dogs of any age or size, especially those with a strong prey or toy drive.

Approach

The business says its experienced trainers "specialize in balanced training methods tailored to each dog's unique needs", and that many programs include lifetime guarantees with free access to follow-up sessions for the life of the dog. It states that "Over 1,000 dogs have successfully graduated from our training programs in the last five years."

A note on the storefront

The business's home page is an online shop that also sells gear and books grooming, and much of the text there is the shop theme's stock copy rather than the business's own. Everything recorded above comes from its training page.
