About Assistance Dogs for Achieving Independence

What They Do

The Ability Center's Assistance Dogs program trains and places assistance dogs to increase independence — Service Dogs, Skilled Companion Dogs, School Facility Dogs, Facility Dogs, and PTSD Dogs for Veterans — performing tasks such as retrieving items, opening doors, and mobility support.

Process & Accreditation

The program is accredited by Assistance Dogs International. After an application, interview, and home visit, approved clients join a waiting list, then attend team training, a 30-day home visit, additional in-facility training, and a public access test, with annual recertification.

Our girls scouts came here to see what they do with their dogs. These dogs are trained so well and the staff is so kind and caring. I learned things I never knew

I'm not sure who is running things now, but this agency is not the same. They no longer care about the needs of their clients or the dogs. It is simply about the money! If I could give it zero stars, I would. I miss the old people who ran things who actually cared and made the dogs amazing!
