About Green Beagle Lodge

Green Beagle Lodge is a two-location pet resort; this is the Chapel Hill lodge at 6805 Millhouse Road, with a sister lodge at 120 Lodge Lane in Pittsboro. The business publishes both addresses on a location selector at the front of its own site.

The training program

Training is sold as The Academy, and the framing is relationship-first: "training is one of the best ways to strengthen your bond with your dog", with the first goal a less stressful life together through manners, obedience and clear communication. The stated method rests on timing, consistency and clear communication, and the Academy describes its job as coaching the owner's behavior as much as the dog's.

Class ladder

Group classes are published as a ladder. Puppy Kindergarten takes puppies up to sixteen weeks through short supervised play sessions plus name response, focus, house-training, socialization and basic obedience, and addresses mouthing, jumping up and chewing; class size is capped at five and two people may attend per dog. Beginner Obedience Foundations is a six-week course for adolescent dogs of at least five months or adults needing the basics – sit, down, stay, recall and loose-leash walking – with an introduction to proofing around distractions, heel and trick work; class size is four. Intermediate Foundations continues into polite greetings, passing a neutral dog, distraction proofing and Canine Good Citizen preparation. Beyond those sit Sports Dog Foundations, Intro to Rally Obedience, Novice/Intermediate Rally and Intro to Agility. Group classes are $180 for a six-week course.

Private and daycare training

Private training can be held at the lodge, at the client's home or in a public space, daytime or evening, and the site points specifically to leash reactivity and resource guarding as the problems it suits, along with dogs too fearful or reactive for a group setting. Private sessions are $75 for half an hour and $125 for an hour, with $50 added for an off-site visit. Daycare training has a trainer work with the dog individually during a daycare day at $75 an hour, and the lodge recommends pairing it with at least one private lesson so the owner can support the dog through the same interactions at home.

Board and Train

A two-week Board and Train is offered at $1,500 excluding boarding, with one-week programs available. It begins with a phone call about goals and suitability and a private lesson, includes written updates and training videos during the stay, and ends with a handover lesson plus a third lesson two weeks after the dog goes home. The Board and Train page directs scheduling to the trainers at the Pittsboro location.

The facility

The lodge publishes a 1:10 staff-to-dog ratio in all play yards, climate-controlled indoor enclosures with Kuranda beds, large turfed outdoor yards with a pool and water features, and a set of environmental measures including reclaimed rainwater and recycled artificial turf. Boarding, daycare and grooming run alongside the training.
