About Ideal K9 Training LLC

What Ideal K9 offers

Ideal K9 Training LLC runs from 1779 Kennedy Rd in St Johnsville. The site says Nikki Licciardi "has proudly served the pets and families of our local community for over 20 years", and the business combines training programs with daycare, boarding and treadmill sessions.

Training programs

The Basic Obedience program is three private one-hour sessions. The site says the dog will "master Come, Sit, Place, Heel, and Break", with the Off command used to interrupt unwanted behavior, and that a high-quality e-collar plus full instruction in its use is included so owners can hold the progress at home. The board and train program runs a minimum of two weeks, covers the same command set, and sends text, photo and video updates while the dog is in training; a professional e-collar is included for the owner to keep. A shorter Day Training option covers "the essentials such as sit, place, leash walking, and even potty training" and the site is explicit that this one "focuses on foundational obedience and doesn't address complex behavioral issues".

Assessments and testing

Before a program is chosen, the site describes a deeper assessment used to "identify and address complex behaviors like anxiety or reactivity" and select the right fit. Ideal K9 also offers AKC Canine Good Citizen testing, and the two advanced levels above it – AKC Community Canine (CGCA) and AKC Urban CGC – each a ten-step test that puts a title on the dog's AKC record.

Boarding and daycare

Overnight boarding is offered in the owners' own home with no minimum or maximum number of nights and flexible drop-off and pick-up. Daycare runs Monday to Friday and is described as a mix of physical activity, brain games and supervised play with scheduled rest.
