Travis is absolutely amazing! He takes the time to really listen and work with you. He builds a lasting positive bond with your dog and teaches you the techniques to support your dog after training is over. His training goes beyond basic commands and is more about learning about what gets your dog’s attention and building on that. He gave my dog so much confidence in just 3 weeks time! When Pablo came home, he was definitely happier that we were communicating again. We also have a routine to keep practicing. I have been able to take my once very nervous, clingy, somewhat out of control dog everywhere (including restaurants)! I would recommend Travis to every dog owner! Our dog Roscoe completed the puppy university with Crystal and he came back to us with so much more confidence and skills. Crystal was awesome! She kept in contact with us so we were never wondering how Roscoe was doing or what they were working on. She was very clear and answered all our questions when bringing him to us at the end of the two weeks. Also loved that we could schedule this over the Thanksgiving holiday. Before finding Travis at Ridgeside K9, I tried just about everything to help train my two German Shepherds, Zeus and Hades. We went through PetSmart’s training program, group training at another facility, and even tried a 5 week board and train program elsewhere—but nothing really worked. Hades is extremely energetic and struggled with listening, especially when excited, while Zeus had serious issues with aggression toward kids. I was honestly starting to feel hopeless.

Everything changed when we were referred to Travis at Ridgeside K9 for a board and train program. From day one, it was clear that Travis not only understood dogs, but also how to teach owners—which, in my opinion, made all the difference. He took the time to explain why certain behaviors were happening, and more importantly, how to work through them in a clear and consistent way.

Travis helped transform Hades’ boundless energy into focused obedience, and Zeus has made incredible progress as well. While we’re still working on his behavior around kids, he now calmly avoids them instead of reacting aggressively—something I honestly couldn’t imagine before training. The best part? The training didn’t stop when the board and train ended. Travis gave me the tools and confidence to continue reinforcing everything they learned, which has made a huge difference at home and in daily life.

From the very first time I reached out to Ridgeside K9 Ashtabula, I knew it was something special. My Aussie, Lincoln, needed structure, a direction, and to learn to control his emotions. Our first training session with David made me beyond so excited for the lifestyle change that Lincoln could achieve. After discussing what would be best for Lincoln, we chose a 4 week board and train program. From the daily text progress videos and pictures, to tips how to incorporate his training into our life, David went above and beyond. It is so apparent the compassion he has for teaching and training dogs. With David’s dedication Lincoln’s world is so much bigger now and the adventures we will get to go on together are endless. Travis was absolutely amazing with my yellow lab, Hank. Hank has severe anxiety that was amplified with the passing of my husband. Travis formed a genuine connection with Hank and cared to make sure he was able to push past the anxiety and learn his good boy behaviors so he can leave the bad ones behind. Travis explained the reasoning behind hanks behaviors and how to help him. I’m truly amazed and grateful for all he has done for hank and I. Hank is the same goofy boy but listens and now I know how to communicate better with him.
