About GOT YOUR SIX DOG TRAINING
Got Your Six Dog Training runs out of 305 Waterford Rd in Centertown, a Cole County village west of Jefferson City, with a second, larger site on Big Horn Drive in Jefferson City that houses the service dog program. Residential training is the core of what it does.
Board and train
The two-week program comes with six group class sessions and is explicitly for dogs that are not dog or human aggressive. It builds a foundation of sit, down and place with distance, distraction and duration, and addresses jumping, counter surfing, nipping, chasing, leash pulling and crate behavior. The stated headline goal is teaching a dog to be calm and to exist alongside people and other dogs. A four-week program is described as advanced and as modifying aggression and anxiety, so the harder cases go into the longer course.
Service dogs
The service dog program runs two to four months and is priced case by case according to the training and task requirements. The published content covers a solid obedience foundation, public access training in several locations, the specific tasks the dog must perform for its handler, restaurant tests, AKC Canine Good Citizen testing, and passing a service dog test against ADA requirements. The handover is structured: six classes with the trainer and handler covering training and tasks, plus three further classes on ADA law and regulations concerning service animals and people with disabilities. The dog is housed at the Big Horn Drive facility during the program.
Boarding
Board and Play is $30 a day in a climate-controlled building with an individual crate per dog and both structured walks and individual play. Boarding with refresher training, for dogs that have already been through the training program, is $35 a day and focuses on whichever commands the owner names. Vaccinations for rabies, DHLPP and bordetella must be current within the year and updated at least 14 days before a stay, with a hard copy at drop-off.
Background
The about page, reproducing a Jefferson City Magazine piece, names the founder as Trisha Fowler, a full-time Missouri Army National Guard soldier who enlisted in 2008 hoping to become a military police K-9 handler. The business began in 2018 as a small in-home training and boarding operation and grew into the 10,000 square-foot facility, where two other small pet businesses now share the site.
Who it’s best for
Best for owners who want the dog trained residentially and handed back with structured classes, and for anyone pursuing a task-trained service dog with ADA public access.
