About Service Dogs Alabama

What they do

Service Dogs Alabama is a nonprofit at 8365 Mobile Hwy in Hope Hull. Its home page says it trains and places highly skilled service dogs for people, including veterans, living with visible and non-visible disabilities, and facility dogs that support schools, healthcare providers, courts and other community organizations.

How the program works

The Who We Are page describes an in-house breeding program and a structured training process, with more than 50 dogs in training at any given time. Volunteers and teammates at Gadsden Correctional Facility play a hands-on role in raising and training each dog. The organization says it was founded in 2010 and became an independent nonprofit in 2015.

Good to know

This is a placement program rather than a class schedule: the site has application processes for a service dog and for a facility dog, so start there rather than booking lessons.
