About Oklahoma City Obedience Training Club
What they offer
Oklahoma City Obedience Training Club (OCOTC) is a not-for-profit club that teaches people to train their own dogs. Classes are held at the club's training facility at 6629 NW 23rd in Bethany and cover puppy and beginner obedience, rally and scent work, with classes starting in sessions and enrollment online. The club also runs a Therapy Dog Program that trains volunteer dogs and handlers for visits to hospitals, nursing homes, schools and shelters, and it holds AKC obedience, rally and scent work trials.
How classes work
Every instructor is a volunteer. For puppy and beginner classes, the first week is an orientation without dogs. You do not need to be a club member to take a class.
Good to know
The club's About page says it was started in the early 1950's by three women who had seen their first obedience trial in Tulsa, and that it trains hundreds of dogs a year. Contact is by phone (leave a message) or email, and the site has a form to get notified about upcoming classes.
