About St Paul Dog Training Club
An AKC club since 1953
The St. Paul Dog Training Club (SPDTC) is an AKC affiliated, not-for-profit training club with its location in South St. Paul. It has offered instruction since 1953 and describes itself as one of the longest established dog training clubs in the Midwest. A volunteer board runs the club.
Classes
SPDTC teaches obedience, rally, agility and nose work, with classes both for owners who want a well-mannered companion and for those aiming at every level of competition. Classes are sold in blocks, and when weather cancels a class the club extends the block or applies a credit.
Events
The club hosts two AKC obedience trials a year, four AKC agility trials, and multiple AKC Scent Work and NACSW trials. Canine Good Citizen tests run about once a month, with current students and members getting first chance to register. Friday evening obedience run-thrus, agility run-and-dones and sniff-n-go events give teams practice time. At these fun-match events, electronic collars and harsh physical or verbal corrections are prohibited, while toys, food and props are allowed.
