Friends for Life Positive Dog Training works from 414 Rim Rock Road in Bailey and serves the corridor from I-70 to Highway 285, including Morrison, Conifer, Evergreen, Littleton and Lakewood. Its programs are daily training, boarding with training, one-on-one private lessons and behavior modification.

Programs

The Foundation Skills program brings a dog in for two hours a day, Monday through Friday, for two weeks, working on sit, down, place and stay, coming when called, loose-leash walking, leave it, drop it and off. The board and train version takes one client dog at a time, with daily lessons and outings. The behavior modification program runs three weeks of weekday sessions for leash reactivity, fear, territorial and food aggression, resource guarding and other aggressive behavior. Private lessons are sold a la carte ($150 an hour), and new boarding clients need an in-person assessment first.

Puppy class

The Play and Learn puppy group class is for puppies 11 to 22 weeks old and runs five weeks ($125), with a safe outdoor yard for play and an indoor space for learning.

Training approach

The site describes positive, force-free methods using food, play and praise, and says its trainers never use devices that cause pain or intimidation. Family members are expected to take part, and dogs practice on walks around town and in public parks. The site says the team has trained professionally for 25 years.
