About Animal Behavior Focus
Animal Behavior Focus
Animal Behavior Focus is a Houston behavior practice that works with dogs and cats suffering from fear, anxiety and aggression. Owner Amanda Rietheimer, CDBC, CPDT-KA, founded it in Houston in 2012 and has partnered on many cases with Dr. Lore Haug, a veterinary behaviorist. She has trained dogs with positive reinforcement since 1996.
What it treats
Issues addressed include isolation distress (separation anxiety), resource guarding, inter-dog and inter-cat aggression, on-leash aggression, aggression toward adults or children, fear-related aggression, generalized anxiety, territorial aggression and storm phobia. Methods are science-based and positive, and work is taken on case by case.
Background
Before founding the practice, Amanda worked for 12 years as an Animal Control Officer, overseeing an animal shelter for three of those years, and has donated time to rescues to assess dogs and build behavior plans. She lives in Bellaire, Texas, and also works by Zoom.
What owners say
One client wrote that Amanda "comes to my house so that she can see the exact issues we have".
