Board and train in South Austin

Jackpot K9 is a family-owned dog training, daycare, boarding and grooming facility in South Austin, at 121 Pickle Road. Its Board & Train program runs 3-6 weeks, with the dog living and training alongside the staff. The curriculum covers loose-leash walking, sit, down, place, heel and recall, crate training, house manners and impulse control, and for dogs with bigger challenges, reactivity to dogs, people, bikes and cars, fear and anxiety, over-arousal, leash frustration and selective aggression.

Other ways to train

Private lessons coach owners hands-on through pulling, jumping, reactivity or a basic obedience foundation. Day Training sessions mix training through the day with structured play, rest and real-life outings. Agility, trick work and bite work and deterrence round out the menu. Published prices are $110 per private session, $990 for 10 sessions and $1,200 per week for board and train; the structured "Not Daycare" program is $65 a day and boarding starts at $75. Every program begins with a free evaluation.

The team

Founder Travis, a former Recon Marine and Michelin-rated chef, runs the business with his wife and co-owner Stephanie; he decided in 2022 to turn his lifelong love of dogs into a business. Lead trainer Abby Schaefer has spent the last decade studying animal behavior and is involved in the advanced obedience and protection-work community.
