About Santa Barbara Flyers Dog Sports
What they offer
The Santa Barbara Flyers is a non-profit dog agility and obedience club promoting education and recreation for people and their dogs. The club is open to all well-mannered dogs and people, and non-members can join practice sessions for a fee.
Obedience and rally
The obedience group meets weekly to learn and practice obedience and rally exercises, whether for AKC trials or simply a closer relationship with the dog. Sessions include heeling drills and loose-leash walking, commands called out by the instructor, figure-eights, stand for exam and recalls. Dogs should be at least six months old, current on vaccinations and already know basic commands.
Agility
Agility practice sessions are offered for all levels, and the club hosts agility trials.
Method
Training uses positive reinforcement with treats and verbal praise.
