About Sit Means Sit Dog Training – Cleveland Westside

E-collar-based obedience

This Sit Means Sit franchise serving Cleveland's west side operates out of the Amherst area under owner/trainer Mike, with additional trainers Leslie, Corey and Tori. Consistent with the Sit Means Sit brand, training is e-collar based – reviews reference the remote collar directly – so owners should go in understanding this is a tool-driven, balanced approach rather than a purely treat-based one.

Programs and format

The service menu covers one-on-one obedience and behavior training, puppy training, group classes, daycare training and flexible board-and-train programs offered in one-, two- and three-week sessions, plus a day-stay drop-off format. Trainers are described as certified Sit Means Sit trainers, though no outside certifications or years-in-business figures are listed. Reviews are mixed – many praise the results, while at least one objects to the shock-collar method on principle – which is worth weighing against your own comfort with the tool. A fit for owners who want fast, off-leash reliability and are comfortable with e-collar training.

What they can help with

Sit, stay, recall and reliable commands, from beginner to advanced.
Behavior modification for unwanted or problem habits.
Your dog stays with the trainer for an immersive, multi-week program.
Early socialization, house-training and first manners for young dogs.

I’ve had 2 dogs go through the board and train program with Mike. Him and the trainers do a fantastic job laying a foundation with the dogs and do a great job explaining the lessons and how to reinforce it at home. I would definitely recommend sit means sit when considering a dog trainer.

Sit Means Sit is fantastic! I found Eddy as a stray pup, and before I introduced him to my other 2 pups, I needed a trainer to work with him. I’ve never owned a stray off the street, so I was overwhelmed. Mike and Leslie are fantastic! They helped give Eddy structure, and healthy boundaries. They helped me get comfortable with giving him rules, and being consistent. Eddy is the sweetest pup, and has adjusted so well to life with 2 other dogs. I couldnt own 3 pups without Sit Means Sits’s help. I love that they also have boarding. Theyre familiar with Eddy, so there wont be issues. So glad I found them!!

I took my 12 week old GSD to their Puppy class and I’m so glad I did. Danny was the instructor and did an amazing job teaching the basics of sit, place, come, heel as well as answering questions with patience and kindness. We had Mike the owner on our last class and his love and enthusiasm for training dogs really shows. We also have a 4 year old GSD and I wish I would have found Sit Means Sit when we were training her. I highly recommend them!

We tried a different training method with Arnie when he was about 1 yrs old w/ no luck. His on-leash behavior was awful – always pulling and very reactive. After doing the Associates class with Sit Means Sit recently – he's so much better! For the first time he's able to consistently follow commands, and our walks are 100% more enjoyable – for both of us! Thanks Danielle and Mike 🙂

Danni (and Mike) is a game-changer when it comes to training! I’ve had dogs most of my adult life (and childhood) and got in over my head with two puppies and a mix of personal life experiences that were uncontrollable leading to necessary training help. Sit Means Sit helped me get my boys back on track and offer on-going training support (the package I selected). I am forever grateful for the grace Danni showed me and the corrections I needed to know on my behavior to make my boys the best additions to our family. 💙🩵
