About Destiny Dog School

Group classes with a titling focus

Destiny Dog School in Steubenville is built around group instruction, which the school favors "for the socializing factor" while still offering optional individual attention. Lead trainer Lorrie Raymond is listed with the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and as a Certified AKC Evaluator, with Jim Raymond helping in class and Katie Dudak handling private training by appointment.

A path from puppy to titles

The curriculum leans toward AKC and obedience-sport goals: basic, novice, and rally obedience, conformation, fun agility, plus Canine Good Citizen and Star Puppy training and certification, with CGCA available for dogs ready to advance. There's also a community and therapy-dog angle, with dogs participating in visits to nursing homes, schools, and parades. Classes run out of a facility at 166 Old State Route 7, and private training is by appointment only. The site doesn't spell out a specific training methodology, but the AKC-evaluator credential and emphasis on titling, socialization, and certifications make this a solid fit for owners who want structured group classes and a route into AKC activities rather than one-on-one behavior rehab.

Our less than two year old corgi is finishing up her second class and our 10 month old corgi is finishing up her first. It's been a good experience for our girls to build confidence and to help owners learn how to continue to teach and work with their dogs once class is over. We plan on continuing until we get our Canine Good Citizen 🙂

The handling classes are a great way for your dog to learn. My dogs and I always fun fun and learn something new each time we go. They also have other great training classes there as well.

Honestly one of the worst experiences I ever had, I felt super uncomfortable from the moment I walked in, I took my French mastiff she’s not aggressive at all but it was a new setting around lots of other dogs and people she barked a couple times then the lady threw water at not only my dog but it hit myself as well and then said it will only get worse from here, I lefted that second because from that point on I knew my dog would never trust her and I definitely wouldn’t. That told me that she trains to get fear so the dogs submit. Which you should never want a dog to fear you, it’s all about respect trust and leading, I sense then watched awesome trainers and my dog is doing amazing, I would never recommend this place to anyone.

A great place to learn obedience and more! The instructor is patient and firm and handles herself professionally. A safe environment. My own dog has really come out of her shell since attending here. Pictures show my dog in the entrance to the school and also my dog with 2 of the goldens when we made our monthly visit to Trinity skilled care for therapy dog.

Our dog has completed 2 classes so far and signed up for her next one. Her overall demeanor and behavior has improved a lot since starting there.
