About Cold Nose Companions Dog Training

Approach

Cold Nose Companions is a positive-reinforcement dog-training business in Chardon, Ohio, with the tagline "Positive Methods. Positive Results." The focus is family dogs, and the messaging is empathetic toward overwhelmed owners dealing with jumping, barking, leash-pulling, or a newly adopted shelter dog. They emphasize that effective training can be joyful and fun, and they explicitly welcome dogs of all ages and breeds, including dogs with disabilities.

Programs

The lineup includes a range of group training classes from beginner to advanced, private training (held at their Chardon center or in your home within roughly 20 miles), and a dedicated Chill! program for reactive dogs that react loudly to other dogs or strangers on walks. Other listed goals include polite manners, controlling lunging and barking, puppy foundations, therapy-dog preparation, and nose work. They also host open floor-time events. This is a strong fit for owners who specifically want force-free, reward-based methods and value structured group classes plus targeted help for reactivity.

Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks? Our 5-year old Border Collie mix was SUPER reactive to strangers before we reached out to Cold Nose for help. Christine has helped us completely turn our dog's behavioral issues around. Her methods truly work and I feel really good about her training model. We just completed one of her 6-week classes and are signing up for another right away! Cold Nose Companions is a MUST for anyone who truly cares about their new puppy or their dog and wants to do right by them.

My recently rescued Pit Bull Terrier mix spent 11 months in a shelter without the socialization, structure, and consistent guidance needed to become a confident, well-adjusted companion. As a result, I had significant work to do in building foundational behaviors and strengthening our communication.

Christine’s expertise, both in canine behavior broadly and in understanding this breed specifically, has been invaluable. She has helped me better understand how to appropriately teach new behaviors and thoughtfully correct unwanted ones using clear, consistent methods. Just as importantly, she has shown remarkable patience with the “human” at the other end of the leash as I learn and apply new behavior modification techniques.

I am already seeing measurable improvement in how my dog responds and in the quality of our interactions. The structured guidance, combined with Cold Nose’s open floor time, has provided a safe and constructive outlet for my dog to release energy while reinforcing positive behaviors.

I cannot speak highly enough of Christine’s training approach. Her commitment to positive reinforcement and her ability to educate owners alongside their dogs produce meaningful, lasting results. I would confidently recommend Cold Nose to any dog owner who wants to build a strong, respectful, and well-trained partnership with their dog.

I spent weeks researching and trying to decide on a training center and found Cold Nose Companions through our vet. They've been fantastic with my dog and he loves going to classes! He finishes his second set of classes tomorrow, and has already started his third set. I've had classes with all three trainers and they've all been great! We will definitely continue doing classes with them, it's been extremely helpful. It's also great how close they are to where we live.

We are doing Chill training for a very reactive dog. I love that they don't just tell you what to do but explain the process and the reason for doing things a certain way. Much better than just commands.

First of all, I brought all three of my young children to our one-on-one dog training session. I did this partly because I didn't have childcare and partly because our dog, Roz, lives in a house with busy young kids! So from the start, we provided a unique challenge! That being said, we were very impressed. Christine was calm, direct, and professional. She made the experience uniquely tailored to our family and educated us on our dog's cues and needs. I highly recommend Coldnose Companions! Thank you, Christine!
