Puppy Training in South Metro Atlanta, GA

Across South Metro Atlanta, a good share of trainers publish puppy work under a heading of its own rather than folding puppies into general obedience. Delivery divides them more sharply than curriculum does: most teach puppies privately, in the owner’s home or as a one-to-one program, a few run recurring puppy group classes, and one sells puppy foundations only as the opening stage of a residential program the dog completes before it ever moves in. If what you want is your puppy in a room with other puppies, the choice is narrow.
Ages are rarely written down. One class provider takes puppies “ages 9-20 weeks” for the AKC entry-level course and under six months for the Saturday foundation class, and it publishes the class size as well — “Our classes are small, with an average of 4-6 puppies per class.” Another describes its puppy program as “equivalent to Pre K” without attaching an age to it, and the rest say new puppy and leave the boundary open. An eight-week-old and a five-month-old are not obviously shopping in the same place here, so age is worth settling on the first call.
What they teach overlaps almost completely: housebreaking, crate work, name recognition and recall, walking on a loose leash, and the chewing and nipping that come with the age. Method is where the pages genuinely part, and they say so themselves. One states that it uses no pinch collars, choke chains or e-collars, “or any type of force or intimidation when training puppies”; another answers its own FAQ question about punishment and shock collars with “No. We use force-free,positive reinforcement methods”. Elsewhere in the metro a residential operator names a commercial working-dog system as its trainers’ credential, and a private trainer describes a toolbox holding both “balanced” and force-free methods. The method page, not the service list, is what tells you which kind of business you are calling.
