About Steady On Point

Hunting dog training in northern Illinois

Steady On Point is a hunting and obedience dog training business. Its site states it "uses the latest methods of dog psychology in training all dogs" and that "training programs are made custom to your dog." The specialization is described in gun dog terms: young dogs learn to "manage" birds by bringing out their natural instincts, and the site says "we specialize in bringing out their drive and desire," summarized in its own phrase, "putting a steering wheel on them."

Owner-involvement seminars

The business "encourages owners to be involved in the training process by regularly hosting 2 types of Hands on Seminars" – full day seminars on basic techniques, and separate seminars on advanced techniques where owners practice with their own dog under the guidance of Alan Ott. The stated focus is improving the owner-dog relationship, improving communication and cooperation, and introducing effective methods to build skills.

Puppies, and one thing to confirm

A separate section covers AKC registered puppies. The site says it looks at its dogs as members of the family and wants them to go to the best possible homes, describes bringing a dog home as a lifelong commitment, and promises to match buyers with the puppy that best suits their needs. Note that the site's published contact address is Woodstock, IL 60098, which differs from the Lakewood placement in this directory – worth confirming before a referral.
