About Canine Visions
Services
Three published options, each priced. A "Consultation" at "$50 for 30-60 minutes" is "An overall general assessment of the situation and recomendations". An "In Home Lesson" at "$100 for 60 minutes" is "A one hour lesson where training takes place within your place of residence." A "Private Lesson" at "$120 for 60 minutes" is "A one hour lesson where training takes place in a public location." The behaviors worked on are listed as "Basic obedience", "Advanced tasks", "Counter Conditioning" and "Shaping".
Method
Stated plainly: "Canine Visions is committed to using only positive reinforcement training methods in a one-on-one format." The site argues the case for individual work over classes or board-and-train on the grounds of "Greater focus on teaching you the skills to work with your dog", "Able to go at the speed of you and your dog" and "Less stress".
Where they work
The contact page gives the location as "Middlebrook, VA". Lessons happen either in your home or somewhere public, which is the right shape for western Augusta County, where addresses are too scattered for a weekly class to be practical for most owners.
Good to know
The trainer describes starting to learn in 2007, and says the interest moved to the center of their life in 2016, when a doctor recommended they get a service dog and they spent the next three years being taught by local and regional trainers. The site mentions "KPA accreditaion" in passing; ask what has been completed. One thing to check when you call: the site's contact page prints a phone number one digit different from the number shown here – use whichever one answers.
