About Camp Cloe Enrichment Resort and Training

Camp Cloe is the metro's separation anxiety specialist. It is run by a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer in Rochester, and the site is unambiguous that this is the reason the business exists: it calls itself a specialized place for dogs with anxiety.

The separation anxiety program

The trainer writes that she has a dog with the disorder herself and that the training helped, and she has put together a hybrid systematic desensitization program that she says many clients find affordable. The first step is a free half-hour Zoom consultation to learn how the program works, with no charge to the owner. This is the only CSAT-led separation anxiety program published by any business in this metro.

Why the training is virtual

The argument for virtual delivery is made explicitly and it is a training argument, not a convenience one. Dogs cannot learn if they feel unsafe, so virtual sessions let the trainer coach the owner in the dog's own environment rather than moving a nervous dog into a strange room. The same reasoning covers puppies: puppy classes can be overstimulating and risky before vaccinations are complete, and virtual work can start as early as six weeks with no exposure risk.

The other classes

Beyond separation anxiety the site publishes puppy beginner classes, basic manners, relaxation, fitness and enrichment. Level 1 puppy sessions are half-hour Zoom classes at $40 and cover normal puppy behavior such as biting, barking and jumping, and how to respond to it, using positive reinforcement with treats. Basic Manners is a Level 2 class with Level 1 as a prerequisite. A Free Work Puppy Workshop runs in summer at $40 per session, building stations outdoors and adding people or dogs slowly, and teaching the owner to recognize a puppy's stress signals.

Daycare

Enrichment daycare and boarding run at the Waldo Avenue site, with busy boxes, scent-finding games and relaxation games. The site says the daycare environment is deliberately not overwhelming, because it is built for anxious dogs.
