About Off Leash K9 Training

Off Leash K9 Training of Jacksonville publishes itself as "a service-area business serving all of Onslow County", and states its standard on its own front page: "100% obedience, 100% off-leash, 100% distraction-proof – for all dogs, all ages, and all issues."

What they publish

Unusually for this metro, every program carries a published price. Board & Train starts at $1,600 and is described as "Your dog lives and trains with our trainer for 1 or 2 weeks, then we teach you everything at turnover. E-collar included." Obedience Lessons start at $650 for "Private basic and advanced obedience – sit, place, recall, and loose-leash walking that holds up around distractions." Aggressive Dog Training is listed at $1,000 for "Reactivity and aggression work for dogs other trainers turn away – structure first, calm results." Puppy Training starts at $100, Therapy Dog Preparation is $950 to "Prepare your dog to pass therapy certification with any testing organization", and Advanced Lessons are $100 a lesson for graduates. The site makes the pricing itself part of its pitch: "Published prices – every package priced on the site."

How they say it works

The published emphasis is transfer and real-world reliability rather than session obedience – "not just treats-in-the-kitchen obedience, but recall that works at the beach, the ballfield, and the front yard" – and "every board & train ends with a full turnover session so the results transfer to your home."

Who trains the dog

Two trainers are named on their own About page. Bradley McKee is listed as Head Trainer, "Raised alongside German Shepherds through his mother’s breeding program in Chicago", with an approach the page describes as "calm, consistent, and built on reading the dog in front of him." Jan Metzger is described as having "more than 40 years with German Shepherds, and a rescuer of German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois since 2007", as the former NC Adoptions Coordinator for Southeast German Shepherd Rescue, and as holding "a Master’s Degree in Education."

The network behind it

This is a location of the Off Leash K9 Training network, which the site states was "founded by Nick White, a former U.S. Marine and U.S. Secret Service K9 handler", and whose video library it describes as "the most dog-training videos on YouTube". That is the network’s published background rather than a credential held by this location.
