Syracuse Obedience Training Club
Overview
About Syracuse Obedience Training Club
The Syracuse Obedience Training Club has been going since 1960 and is a New York State registered 501(c)(3) educational corporation rather than a commercial trainer. It trains on Deere Road in Syracuse and takes mail at a PO box in the 13220 zone.
Classes
The club publishes a class schedule by term, currently Fall 2026 with a Summer 2026 schedule also listed, together with a How to Register page, a For New Students page and a drop-in payment option. Registration, vaccination requirements, a liability release and the club's policies all sit on the site as separate documents, which is the shape of an organization that runs continuous terms rather than one-off bookings.
Sport and competition
What sets a club apart from a training business is the competition side, and this one runs a lot of it: a Flyball league, an Agility league, Fast-CAT, Scent Work classes and a Scent Work trial, plus shows and seminars on its calendar. Members use the myK9Q app for trial entries and the site publishes maps for trial days.
Membership
The club offers regular and junior membership as well as associate and honorary membership, and has a volunteer page. Because it is a not-for-profit run by its members, its classes and leagues generally cost less than commercial equivalents, and the trade-off is a term calendar and a membership structure rather than training on demand.
Who it suits
An owner who wants ongoing weekly work, a route into obedience, rally, flyball, agility or scent trials, or simply an inexpensive place to keep training after a beginner course elsewhere, is the natural fit here.
