Stein-Way Dog Training
Overview
About Stein-Way Dog Training
Stein-Way Dog Training sells something nobody else in this directory sells: one lesson, three hours, and a written promise attached to it. The line on the front of its own site is "Your Dog Obeys or You Don't Pay."
The one-lesson format
Everything is built around a single three-hour appointment rather than a course. If you are used to weekly classes this is a different purchase, and it is worth understanding before you call: the session is long, it is one-on-one, and the training is delivered in one go with the whole family expected to take part. The site's own summary of what the lesson targets is counter surfing, messing in the house, jumping and destructive behavior.
Programs
Beyond the core lesson the published programs are a customized training program; manners, obedience and housebreaking; a Safe Baby / Happy Puppy program for households expecting a baby or bringing home a puppy; telephone and video consultation; and breed selection help for people choosing a dog.
Who runs it
This is a second-generation family business. Linda Stein founded it and trained dogs for over 30 years; her daughter Andee has run it for more than a decade and works from the Rockland County location. The site claims over 10,000 dogs trained and more than 40 years serving the Hudson Valley.
Practicalities
The address published in the footer is 15 Fersch Lane, Congers, NY 10920, and sessions are offered on weekdays, evenings and weekends.
