About Upward Hound Dog Training

About Upward Hound Dog Training

Upward Hound presents itself on its home page as "Force-Free Training, Behavior Consulting and

Grooming Serving St. Croix River Valley, WI." The site says "Upward Hound's credentialed staff is

here to help with all of your dog and puppy training needs," and frames the range as running "From

teaching your puppy how to confidently navigate our human world to helping your adult dog overcome

separation anxiety." The footer gives the address as 2134 Hwy 64, New Richmond, WI 54017.

Approach

The philosophy section is unusually direct: "We believe that there is never a need for force, fear,

or pain when changing your dog's behavior. Even the most severe behavior cases can be safely

improved with force-free methods." The staff are described as using "only positive reinforcement

training techniques – with dogs as well as people!" The home page calls the methods "modern

force-free and fear-free."

Programs listed on the home page

Classes are offered as a structured space "to train your puppy or dog under the coaching of

experienced professional." Private training is pitched as one-on-one behavior consulting, and the

page states that "Our credentialed behavior consultant specializes in helping dogs with fear or

aggression." The Super Puppy Program is described as a day school: "a loving, safe place for your

puppy to learn, play and socialize during those formative first months." Separation anxiety has its

own entry, and grooming uses "low-stress, fear-free practices" with the aim of "teaching your pup to

enjoy the process."
