About Birklandshire K9 (BK9)

Birklandshire K9 is Jeanne Hodson's practice, and the thing that distinguishes it in this metro is that service dogs are the cornerstone rather than a sideline. The site describes customized service dog programs designed to develop both the dog and a capable handler, which is a different service from pet obedience and hard to find locally.

Pet dogs too

Alongside the service dog work the practice offers board training, private lessons and group classes for pet dogs and their families. The stated shape of the business is customized training with fewer dogs and focused attention, and there are separate pages for the training philosophy, group classes and service dogs so you can read what each involves before calling.

Background

Her own account of how she came to it starts with horses: more than a decade riding and showing in competition as a teenager, learning from skilled trainers how to build trust and form real partnerships with animals, which she describes carrying into the dog work.

Note on credentials

The site states professional certifications; ask which bodies issued them.
