About Dog Gone Good Dog Training
About
Dog Gone Good works out of Warm Springs Road in Columbus and serves the Columbus and Phenix City area. The trainer, Tonya Martin, describes starting out by fixing a food guarding problem in one of her own dogs and following it into the trade. Her own page is clear about where the emphasis sits: "Communication is key. I believe dogs need to understand yes and no."
Training
Three routes are published. Puppy Programs cover dogs from nine to twenty weeks over three private lessons, with a one-week Potty Animals board and train for puppies under five months. Basic Obedience is five weekly private lessons with homework between them, for owners who want to do the training themselves. Board and Train runs one or three weeks and includes e-collar work plus two private lessons, the first a two-hour go-home session. Advanced Obedience adds three off-leash lessons once basic obedience is complete, run at the owner's house or a nearby park.
Method
The e-collar work is described as low level – "so low that most humans can't even feel it" – and used as one communication tool among praise and treats. Structure and clear rules from the first meeting are the through-line of every program.
Also offered
Boarding and small dog daycare run from the same address, with vaccination and flea-and-tick requirements published on the booking page.
