What they do

My Best Buddy Dog Training is run by Robin Sockness, who works out of Sharpsburg and calls the role a canine life coach. The published services are a Puppy Primer, puppy classes, private coaching, Feisty Fido instruction and a group outing program.

The programs

Puppy Primer is a 60-90 minute private session at your home for a newly acquired dog, best taken within a week or two of the dog's arrival. Puppy classes run in two places – an AKC Star Puppy class in Peachtree City and a Saturday fun-dation class in Fayetteville – for puppies that have had two sets of vaccines, ages 9-20 weeks for Star Puppy. Classes are kept small, an average of 4-6 puppies. Private coaching, held in your home, covers house-training, jumping, digging, chewing, destructiveness, fear and separation anxiety. Feisty Fido is the leash-reactivity program for dogs that pull, bark or lunge on leash. Hounds Around Town takes about an hour and practices manners in dog-friendly public places.

Method

The site is explicit: 100% science-based methods instead of punishment, no pinch collars, choke chains, e-collars or intimidation, with treats, toys, affection and praise as the rewards.
