About Crosscountry Kennels, LLC

What they offer

Crosscountry Kennels in Bluejacket runs board and train programs that, in its words, "prepare your dog for maximum performance—in the field and at home." Its home page lists three training services: bird dog and sporting dog training for hunting companions and field trial competitors, pet dog training (obedience for puppies and adult dogs), and working dog training, which covers aptitude testing and fundamental obedience for working dog prospects. It also offers boarding.

How training works

The About page sets out a process built on three values, starting with "Foundation before fixes": obedience comes first, then the behavior work. The kennel says it evaluates each dog individually and shapes training around its breed instincts, temperament and drive. The bird dog page describes several weeks of daily, multi-environment exposure and bird contacts, aimed at confidence and steadiness.
