Paws & Effect Dog Training is an in-home trainer based in Stillwater, MN, serving the East Metro area under the motto "From Mischief to Manners." Owner Peter Bannon describes himself as a certified dog trainer and behaviorist, a former Military Police Officer and Infantryman, and a U.S. Army veteran. He trained at Catch Canine Academy and holds certification from Pawsitivity Service Dogs for Veterans.

Method

Peter uses a positive-only, force-free, science-based approach and teaches owners to read their dog's body language. He prefers to train in the home, where the dog spends most of its time, instead of in facility group classes.

Services and rates

In-home obedience training covers sit, down, stay, recall, leave it, drop it, puppy foundations and basic manners: $120 per lesson, or packages of 3, 5 or 10 lessons for $330, $525 or $1000. Behavior training for separation anxiety, fear, leash reactivity and aggression is $220 per lesson, or $630, $975 or $2000 for 3, 5 or 10 lessons. Programs include text and email support between lessons. A $100 fee applies to in-home consultations, and veterans and first responders get 10% off.
