Overview
About Calm Waters Dog Training
Data-driven positive training in St. Paul
Calm Waters Dog Training is a positive dog training company based in St. Paul, MN, that works with clients locally in person and further afield online. It calls itself data driven and results focused, and specializes in separation anxiety, dog-to-dog reactivity, other behavior issues and skill-building obedience. Each client gets a personalized treatment plan that is adjusted as data comes in, and the trainers attend conferences to keep current.
Method
The company uses positive methods built on the owner-dog relationship, kindness and empathy. For dogs showing fear or aggression toward dogs, people or objects, it sometimes uses Behavior Adjustment Training (BAT), a method developed by Grisha Stewart.
Services
Separation anxiety work is done entirely online: a 60-90 minute initial assessment, then 4-week packages with homework 4 to 5 times a week, weekly video reassessments and virtual coaching. Behavior consultations for other problems start with a free call, then a 1-2 hour assessment and 4-week behavior modification packages, virtually or in home. Skill building packages cover loose leash walking, recall, sit, down, stay, place and impulse control. A 60 minute online pep talk handles single simple issues, and CGC and Trick Dog coaching and testing are available.
What to ask
Ask about package pricing, which is discussed during the free meet and greet.
