About River Town Retrievers
Retriever training in Natchez
River Town Retrievers is a full-service retriever training facility in Natchez, on the bluffs of the Mississippi River. Its About page says it specializes in retriever training and also offers obedience training and boarding for dogs of all ages and experience levels. It is owned and operated by Leo and Michelle Joseph and began in 2016.
Programs
The Basic Retriever Training Program covers on- and off-leash obedience, whistle commands, collar conditioning, force fetch and foundational marking on land and water, with introductions to gunfire, decoys, live birds, dog blinds and stands. The training page says it typically takes about six months and prepares dogs for HRC Started or AKC Junior-level hunt tests. Advanced training begins with transition work: three-handed casting, remote sit, force-to-pile and blind retrieves on land and water.
Kennels and team
The About page lists a North Kennel at 150 Cemetery Road in Natchez and a South Kennel at 10391 US Route 61 in Woodville, and a team of three trainers. Boarding dogs stay in climate-controlled indoor kennel runs with play yards and walking paths.
