Lost Creek Training Academy & Boarding School, known as "The Creek," is a training academy at 28105 115th Road in Kearney. Its story starts in 2014, when trainer Austin began offering free dog training to locals, and the academy was born in 2016 after demand grew. Austin was born and raised in Nebraska and holds a bachelor's degree in comprehensive Biology, emphasized in Health Sciences with an animal psychology and behavior focus, from the University of Nebraska; his experience is credited with the training of over 4000 dogs, including service dogs. The academy describes its techniques as science-based, non-aversive and non-abusive.

Programs

Private one-on-one sessions teach both the dog and the family, with package discounts and the option to decide on a package after the first session. In Board and Train, dogs work up to 5 times a day for 30 minutes, 5 days a week, followed by a demonstration and owner handoff. The medical alert service dog program helps clients find a suitable dog and trains it for needs such as diabetes, seizures, autism, anxiety and PTSD. Daycare and grooming are also available.
