About Bonafide Dog Academy
Training and daycare in central Omaha
Bonafide Dog Academy has served Omaha since 2006. It was founded by Jeff and Dawn Antoniak-Mitchell, and in February 2019 Susan and her late husband Andy bought the business, moving it to a new facility and expanding its programs. It is independent and locally owned, with over 15,000 square feet of climate-controlled training and daycare space.
Programs
Puppy and dog classes run from puppy basics and problem solving to AKC-level work, including AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy and Canine Good Citizen classes taught by AKC Certified Evaluators. Advanced classes cover agility, barn hunt and nosework. Private sessions take place at home, at the facility or at another location. Day Academy combines boutique daycare with training, with daycare capped at 25 dogs and a 1:6 staff-to-dog ratio. There is also a puppy board and train, a puppy day school and one-day workshops.
Method and team
Training is science-based positive reinforcement, and the academy is a member of the Association for Professional Pet Dog Training International. Trainers include Dominique (CPDT-KA), Ashley (ABCDT), John (CPDT-KA) and Amanda, who holds a B.S. in Zoology and trained animals at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo.
