About Club K-9
A family-run club in Tigard
Club K-9 is a family owned daycare, boarding and training center in Tigard, a few minutes off I-5 at the border of Portland and Lake Oswego. It was founded in 2002, and owners Amber and Chris took over on July 4, 2013. It is open 365 days a year.
The trainer
Amber Hammond started in 4-H obedience as a child and has worked as a daycare and boarding attendant, dog trainer, kennel manager and veterinary technician. She earned a BS in Zoology, achieved her training certification through Animal Behavior College in 2021, graduating with honors, and is a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator.
Classes and lessons
Group classes follow APDT's C.L.A.S.S. program across four levels, from a Beginner class that meets AKC STAR Puppy requirements up to Advanced, with the upper levels meeting AKC Canine Good Citizen requirements. Classes in Tigard run on weekends, and each level costs $200. Private lessons and behavioral consultations happen in the client's home seven days a week, from puppy basics to severe behavior issues, at $100 per hour or $270 for three hours and $425 for five. Training is reward-based and uses positive reinforcement.
