About Trails and Tails Dog School

Games-based training in Bozeman

Trails and Tails Dog School offers dog training classes, tailor-made training plans, and in-person and online coaching in Bozeman. It calls itself the home of concept based dog training: dogs learn concepts such as calm through games, so their skills hold up in exciting or stressful situations as well as at home.

The trainers

Owner Sara Erickson, CPDT-KA and NACSW Certified Nose Work Instructor, holds a B.S. in Biotechnology from Montana State University, is Fear Free Certified and has a Pro Dog Trainer certification through Absolute Dogs. Her border collie Tracer holds NACSW titles through ELT 1. She especially enjoys helping with dog-dog interaction, resource guarding, separation-related behaviors, reactivity and scent work. Trainer Patricia Brewster, CPDT-KA and AKC Canine Good Citizen and STAR Puppy evaluator, teaches through games and play with science-based, fully positive methods, and enjoys sports foundations, agility, scent work, tricks and confidence building for sensitive dogs.

Classes and plans

Classes cover nose work, trail manners, life skills, recall, loose lead walking, reactivity and agility. Tailored training plans address new puppies and rescues, loose leash and recall, separation anxiety and behavior struggles.
