About K9 Nose Sports
Nose work classes in Sioux Falls
K9 Nose Sports in Sioux Falls is built around the dog sport known as Nose Work or Scent Work. The focus of every class is for the dog and owner or handler to have fun, and the classes suit all dogs with the exception of human-aggressive dogs. The instructor calls it "the most fun sport I have experienced" as an owner, a handler and an instructor.
Class levels
Intro to Nose Work 1 introduces dogs and owners to the sport. Nose Work 2, Odor and Elements, builds on that foundation with skill building while searching for a particular odor, teaching dogs to search for the odor and develop odor obedience. Nose Work 3, Trial Preparation, is for dogs that have passed an ORT or completed Level 2 and shown proficiency finding birch, the first trained target odor. Nose Work 4, sometimes called the Master Class, is for experienced teams, with larger search areas and more distractions. Private lessons suit students at any level who want to work on a specific issue, behavior or element without other dogs present.
Booking
New students complete a Pre-Class Questionnaire before signing up. Fees can be prorated for sessions known in advance to be missed, and a missed session can be made up in another class at or below the current level within a month.
