About Happy Tails K-9 Training and Supplies
Training and behavior work in Watertown
Happy Tails K-9 Training and Supplies in Watertown is owned by Shauna Geier, who turned to helping troubled dogs and their owners after a 14-year military career. She lists her education as CACTP (Certified Advanced Canine Training Professional), CCTBS (Certified Canine Trainer and Behavior Specialist) and a bachelor's degree in biology. Her interest began with her own rescue dogs, and the household's rescued and rehomed dogs now help with evaluations and with building confidence in nervous dogs.
Approach
Shauna focuses on transforming a dog's mind from a fearful, insecure or aggressive state to a confident, secure and balanced one, using desensitization, habituation and socialization, and stresses the importance of socialization from 3-20 weeks of age.
Services and fees
Group courses run at several times a week and levels, from puppy to adult socialization and obedience, leash etiquette and three advanced courses; a 6-week course totals 11 hours of training for $225-$275. Private training is reserved for dogs needing specialized help with aggression, fear or shyness and starts with an evaluation ($30-60), then 60-minute sessions at $45-$65. Service and therapy dog training with Canine Good Citizen certification is also offered.
