About Antelope Lake Retrievers

Gun dog training in Webster

Antelope Lake Retrievers is a family-owned gun dog breeding, training and boarding facility in Webster in northeast South Dakota, run by Scott and his wife Becky. It breeds health-tested, field-proven, non-dilute pointing Labradors and has started dogs available through the year.

The trainer

Scott trained his first dog in high school and then started guiding with him. Whether a dog will be a family or hunting companion, a guide dog or a hunt test competitor, he says he will spend time with it to bring out its greatest potential.

Training program

A three-step gun dog program, Puppy, Gundog and Advanced retriever training, is tailored to the dog and the owner's needs and starts with basic commands. Training uses 660 acres with small and large bodies of water within one mile of the kennel, for waterfowl, upland or both. Bordetella, rabies and distemper vaccination records are required at drop-off, and puppies under 6 months must be vaccinated for parvo.
