About Action Agility Dog Training
What they offer
Action Agility Dog Training Club is a non-profit club in Minot that started in 1999 and is affiliated with NADAC. Its volunteer instructors teach classes in sessions, with registration by mailed form before each fall session, and members get a discount and first chance at enrolling.
Classes
A puppy class for puppies from 12 weeks to 6 months introduces appropriate behavior toward people and other dogs and teaches basic commands. Beginning obedience, for dogs 6 months and older, covers loose-leash walking, recalls, sit, down and stay and heeling, and prepares dog and handler for the Canine Good Citizen test. The agility track runs from foundations through basic, intermediate, advanced and post-advanced classes, and the club also offers basic and advanced scent work on an alternating basis, along with rally obedience.
Approach
The club uses positive reinforcement and praise and focuses on the bond between handler and dog. Dogs must be evaluated and vaccinated by a veterinarian first, and the club does not accept aggressive dogs or females in season.
