About Safepaws
Private in-home training in Houston
Safe Paws Dog Training is a Houston business offering private, one-on-one dog training in the owner's home, rated 5.0 on Google. It was founded by Jan Hernandez, who is credited with seven years with dogs, four to five of them training full-time, moving from kennel tech to assistant trainer to three years training for a company, with work covering service dogs, behavior modification and aggression cases.
Programs
Training covers puppy training for ages eight weeks to six months, obedience from foundations through off-leash control, leash walking, recall, real-life training in parks and on streets, and behavior modification for reactivity, anxiety, jumping and impulse control. Obedience sessions run about an hour, usually weekly, and puppy sessions run thirty minutes. Programs range from $620 to $3,150, set after a free consultation, with a discount for multi-dog households.
Approach
The approach is balanced: reward-based work with treats, toys and praise comes first to build confidence, then the dog learns exactly what is expected and that standard is held the same way every session. Owners are coached alongside their dogs.
What owners say
"Jan is WONDERFUL he really helped not only train our pup but train ourselves and how to handle him. Adonis is thriving and we are so grateful."
