About Leaps and Bounds Agility Center
Agility training in Houston
Leaps and Bounds Agility Center is a Houston dog agility school offering group and private agility lessons, taught by professional instructors with extensive competition and training experience using fun and positive methods. It welcomes handlers doing agility just for fun as well as those competing at a high level.
Classes
Beginning Agility introduces obstacles and foundation skills with positive reinforcement, for new teams and experienced handlers with a young dog. Intermediate I and II Agility are off-leash courses that build verbal commands, body cues and longer sequences, and require a reliable off-leash sit, stay and recall. Novice Agility works toward the proficiency needed to compete in agility trials, and Competition Classes cover handling skills, sequences and strategy for higher levels.
Instructors
Elizabeth Blanchard established the center in 1998 and has competed in agility for 35 years. She has won the USDAA Grand Prix National Championship, won the USDAA Masters DAM Team National Championship four times, and was inducted into the USDAA Agility Hall of Fame in 2020. Betty Carter, who joined in 2020, has taught agility for 15+ years, and her dogs have earned 35 MACHs in AKC and 60 NATCHs in NADAC. Jackie Langford has competed in agility since 1999.
