About Dobbin Dog Ranch
A training resort in Montgomery
Dobbin Dog Ranch is a dog boarding and training resort at 2800 South FM 1486 in Montgomery, north of Houston, on a nearly 20-acre property with over 14,000 square feet of indoor space, lakes and nature trails. It opened for business in 2021 and is owned and operated by Mike and Kari Enmon, who live on the property.
The trainer
Mike directs the training program and personally trains every dog enrolled. He is credited with over 25 years of training and competing with his own Labrador Retrievers in field trials, is a licensed AKC Retriever Field Trial Judge, and the ranch says he has trained thousands of dogs across a wide range of breeds.
Programs
The board and train centers on off-leash basic obedience, including loose-lead walking, heel, sit and coming when called, for puppies at least five months old and adults. It costs $650 per week plus boarding and typically lasts a little over two weeks to about four weeks, ending with a session for the owner. Younger puppies can start puppy training after vaccines, and a puppy raising program takes one pup at a time from seven weeks to about six months. Private training for graduates is $125 per hour at the ranch or $300 per hour at home.
Method
Mike first earns a dog's trust and confidence, then trains through a consistent daily approach, like a coach with a player.
