About K-9 Manners of Texas
Mike Jeter's board and train in Spring
K-9 Manners of Texas is the Spring dog training business of Mike Jeter, who grew up in Spring and is credited with over 30 years of professional training; the site gives 1997 as its founding year. Mike started as a kennel technician and assistant trainer while at Lone Star College, worked as a veterinarian technician, and trained for three long-standing local kennels. His background covers obedience, behavior modification, hunt and field training for retrievers and Schutzhund-style work.
Programs and prices
Training runs as board and train, with boarding at an upscale local kennel. Foundation On Leash Training costs $1,000 for 3-4 weeks and covers sit, stay, down, come, hand signals and real-world distractions. Off Leash Training costs $2,000 for 4-6 weeks and adds e-collar conditioning (by owner's permission) and 15-30 ft. line work. Retrieval Training for hunting dogs, including force-fetch and field conditioning, is priced per dog. Adopted rescue dogs get 15% off.
Method
Training begins with positive reinforcement and limited distractions; verbal and leash corrections with a slip or pinch collar are added as the dog learns. Every program ends with two private sessions with the family and a graduation test around children, other dogs and moving vehicles.
