Inside Petco store 1491 at 465 Sherry Ln, Fort Worth, trainers run group courses and private lessons for every age and breed. Lessons are scheduled between 9am and 9pm except on Sunday, when the window is 10am to 7pm, and the number to call is (817) 377-1968.

Group courses

Group classes last six weeks, meet for an hour and hold up to five dogs with their owners. Very young puppies of 8 to 16 weeks begin with potty training, socialization and first cues such as sit, down and come. Dogs between 16 weeks and six months move to Beginner, which reinforces those skills and adds loose-leash walking, leave it and wait. Fundamentals, for dogs past six months, also tackles jumping and barking; at the Advanced level the focus shifts to heel, polite greetings and recall around distractions.

One-on-one work

Private sessions run 45 minutes with a certified trainer on a flexible schedule. A first Private Lesson 101 sets goals and recommendations for new customers, and multi-session packs build a customized training plan. Bring a leash and harness, treats and vaccination records to every class.
