About International K-9

Obedience and protection dogs in Weatherford

International K-9 is a Weatherford dog training business founded by Steve Blair, whose career in dog training began in 1987. He trained dogs for obedience, protection, tracking and agility, was training award-winning working dogs by 1994, and established International K9 in Texas in the mid-1990s. Much of his expertise was built through extensive training in Germany alongside top trainers, and he also works as a consultant and expert witness in police dog cases.

Services

The company provides obedience, protection and tracking training, sells trained personal and family protection dogs, and offers boarding; Steve is developing a new boarding facility with home-style kennel rooms and remote monitoring. Problem behaviors such as under-socialization, digging, biting, barking, jumping and chewing are corrected by building communication through obedience and showing the dog what to do rather than what not to do, so the dog works for the reward of behaving correctly rather than out of fear.

What owners say

One client wrote that his dog went "from a high-energy handful to a perfectly balanced, well-trained companion."

What to ask

Ask where training takes place, how long programs run and what training or a protection dog costs.
