About Austin Canine Academy
Owner-and-dog obedience in Austin
Austin Canine Academy is an Austin dog training academy that teaches dogs and their owners to communicate with each other. Its curriculum moves owners and dogs through shared tasks so they progress together, combining established methods with expertise rooted in behavioral science. The academy says its trainers and programs have served over 400 dogs and their owners, and that its trainers are insured.
Programs
Intro to Obedience ($750) covers leash handling, walking without pulling and two foundational commands. Obedience 101 ($1250) advances leash skills, foundational commands and mental stimulation, with clearer expectations at home and in public. AP Obedience ($2500) moves to off-leash work, hand signals and advanced distraction training in parks and public spaces. Graduates of AP Obedience can be considered for specialty training programs.
Getting started
Enrollment runs in three steps: an application, a phone call about the dog's behavior and needs, and an in-home consultation to meet the family and discuss programs and availability.
What owners say
One alumnus wrote that trainer Nick "trained all 3 of my unruly dogs" and taught him to lead them so they became "calmer and less anxious."
