Open Gates Dog Training is run by Adam and Courtney from their home in Leander, serving the surrounding areas. Adam has trained dogs for 13 years, including eight years as head trainer at a leading Austin training company, where he still coaches trainers, and he has specialized in severe behavioral cases for the past eight years. His certifications include Canine Conditioning Coach and AKC Canine Good Citizen and STAR Puppy Evaluator. Courtney has worked as a professional trainer, a veterinary assistant and a manager of daycare and boarding businesses.

Services

Private lessons are weekly 60-minute sessions where the trainers come to you, with a simple weekly plan and phone and email support; virtual lessons are also available. Stay & Train keeps a dog in the trainers' home for 1 to 3 weeks, with pick-up and drop-off, frequent updates, a daily routine of training, play and exercise, and 2 to 3 follow-up private lessons; only a couple of training dogs stay at a time. Past clients can book Stay & Refresh boarding with refresher sessions, and group training walks and classes.

Training topics

Work covers off-leash obedience, leash manners, puppy training and socialization, potty training, jumping, poor recall and door dashing, digging, aggression, anxiety, resource guarding and shy or fearful behavior.
