About Got Your Back K9 Life

Obedience, protection and detection in Jacksonville

Got Your Back K9 Life is a Jacksonville dog training business specializing in canine obedience, protection and detection, with over 25 years of experience. Owner and master trainer George Vidler is a Certified Master Canine Trainer, CPR and first aid instructor and AKC Canine Good Citizen instructor and evaluator, with a background in personal protection and narcotics and explosives detection training for law enforcement, military and civilian handlers. The team also includes obedience trainer Benjamin Sanchez, an AKC CGC Evaluator, and Christie Whitt of Bayard Kennel, a certified canine obedience trainer.

Method

The program makes the handler the pack leader and uses positive reinforcement such as praise, food and play rewards, chosen by the dog's drive. It calls its approach balanced and humane, with e-collars kept as a last resort for extreme cases. The goal is one command, one action, with a focus on canine psychology and impulse control.

Services

Services include basic through advanced obedience, personal and business protection training with bite work, scent detection for narcotics, explosives and allergens, and trainer instruction, plus boarding in climate-controlled kennels and half-day or full-day daycare at Bayard Kennel. The team also helps owners choose a breed and temperament before getting a dog. Active and retired law enforcement, military and first responders receive discounts.
