About Charry’s Premier K-9 Training

Who runs it

"Founder Brian Charry has worked with hundreds of club, national and world-level dogs and handlers — training rooted in real IGP work, clear communication and control-first training." The About page dates both the man and the business: "Raised around animal husbandry and training working-line German Shepherds since 2012, Brian founded Charry's Premier K-9 Training in 2017 to bring that world-level standard to everyday dogs and their owners across the Bluegrass." The academy is at 4125 W Leestown Road, Midway, KY 40347, on what the site calls an acre training farm.

What they offer, with prices

Six programs are listed and five carry figures. Board & Train is "$2,600 / 3-week program," "3-week immersive program with daily real-world training and handler transfer," covering "Confidence building," "Minimizing & extinguishing negative behaviors," "Leash, hand & verbal cues," "Recalls under heavy distraction" and "Auto sits & extended stays." Obedience Training runs "$350–$600 / lesson packages," taking a dog "From first manners to a dog who listens anywhere — on-leash to off." Puppy Training is "$350 / 3 one-on-one lessons" covering "Imprinting / shaping & luring," "Behavioral markers & free shaping," "Engagement & drive building" and an intro to recall, sit, down, place and heeling — offered "after initial vaccinations." Aggressive & Reactive work requires a consult or evaluation first and delivers "A structured path to minimizing negative behaviors and building confidence and calm." Boarding & Daycare is "$40–$50 / per day," with boarding at $50/day, $25/day for each additional dog, and daycare at $40/day running May–November. Protection Sport is "IGP-rooted drive development, control and evaluations," consult first.

The approach

"Every dog is different, so we meet the dog in front of us. We build engagement and confidence first, layer obedience under gradually heavier distraction, and address the negative behaviors that get in the way — always coaching the owner so the results actually last." And on breed and age: "any dog, any breed, any age."

Breeding

The site is open about a second line of business: "We occasionally have litters of working-line German Shepherds, and from time to time offer started or trained dogs," under the Von Charry name.

Service area

Listed county by county: "Lexington Fayette County, Frankfort Franklin County, Georgetown Scott County, Versailles Woodford County, Nicholasville Jessamine County, Winchester Clark County, Richmond Madison County, Paris Bourbon County, Lawrenceburg Anderson County, Midway Woodford County."

What clients say

The site publishes Google reviews, including one from the owner of a six-month-old puppy: "After three weeks with weekly visits, we met Brian at Lowe's to witness our baby dog staying in place with one command for an extended period of time while customers shopped all around her. It was astonishing."

"Training and facility visits are by appointment," and "Enrollment is by appointment and spots are limited."
