Puppy Training in West Metro Atlanta, GA

Across West Metro Atlanta, a good number of trainers name puppy work as an offering of its own rather than folding puppies into general obedience.
Few of them say in writing what ages they take, and those that do do not line up. One starts earliest, describing “Our early puppy training, starting at 9 weeks old” and answering the age question in its FAQ with “We recommend formal training starting as early as 8 to 9 weeks old.” Another opens later and closes earlier — its residential puppy program is “Designed for puppies 12 wks to 6 mo old” — and a third sets its band as “Great for dogs 8 weeks old to 5 months old.” An eight-week-old and a six-month-old are not shopping in the same place here. Most publish no age at all, so if your puppy is very young or already past five months, the page will not tell you whether it qualifies.
Format is the other thing the pages mostly leave out. Some sell puppy work as a class you attend; one is unusually specific about size, advertising “Small-group Saturday classes, six dogs at most”, and another treats the two halves of the job as separate bookings, “We offer Group Classes in Puppy Socialization, Puppy Training, Basic Obedience, Advanced Obedience and Conformation Handling Classes.” Others publish puppy work as private one-to-one training, usually delivered in the owner’s own home. One publishes a residential puppy program with its length stated plainly, “2 weeks at trainers house + 2 in-home sessions.” The rest name a puppy program and stop there, without saying whether it is a class, a visit or a drop-off — the first thing to settle before comparing two of them.
One caution about the word socialization, because in this metro it appears more often on daycare and boarding pages than on training pages. Supervised play sold by the day is useful, but it is not a class with a curriculum: one facility describes its daycare as “Structured, supervised daycare focused on healthy socialization”, and a boarding operation mentions puppies only to carve them out of an admission rule — “Only spayed and neutered dogs are accepted, with the exception of puppies less than 8 months old.” If what you want is a young puppy learning alongside other young puppies under a trainer’s eye, only one of the class lists here names that as a class in its own right.
